Born in 1940 he was educated at Castle Rushen High School and the Shropshire Agricultural College. He went on to become a company director in the farming and retail dairy trade. He was elected as an Arbory commissioner in 1970, remaining as one until 1976, and became the Chairman. In 1976 he stood as MHK for Rushen and was successful. He remained an MHK until retiring at the 2001 General Election. In 1986 he was elected the first ever Chief Minister and continued in the post for a decade until the 1996 election. He was granted a CBE in 1991, an honorary doctorate in 1994 by Liverpool University, and a knighthood in 1997. The Sefton Group Board appointed Sir Miles Walker as Chairman in a non-executive capacity on the 4th June 2010.
Brett Martin has an extensive track record of financial leadership, having trained and qualified on the Island under PKF. He moved to the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Ltd in 1985, where in 1990 he was appointed Company Secretary and in 1993 Group Finance Director. Subsequent to leaving Steam Packet in 1996 Brett joined Cammell Laird Group and spent three years there as Finance Director and Deputy Chief Executive. In 1999 he returned to the Island and over the last ten years has been involved in a number of Manx and UK businesses.
Adrian joined the Sefton Group in May 2007 upon the purchase of the Palace Hotel and Casino from Gala Group. He was and still remains the Managing Director of the Palace Hotel and Casino as well as his role as Director of Leisure for Sefton Group. Adrian has more than 25 years experience within the gaming and leisure sector. He has operated Casino's within the UK and Gibraltar and on numerous cruise ships out of the US.
Adrian is certified by the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission in the capacity of Casino Director. He successfully achieved his Postgraduate Certificate in Casino Management at Salford University in 1999.
